Biography

Hesham Mesbah, Ph.D., is Associate Professor and former Chair of the Department of Communication at Rollins College in Winter Park, Florida. His research agenda includes comparative cognitive effects of news media, social media, and public opinion. Before coming to Rollins College, he taught communication and mass media at Cairo University, Kuwait University, Sultan Qaboos University, and Northwestern State University in Louisiana. He is actively engaged in training journalists and providing research and public relations consultations in Egypt and Kuwait. He was also the president of the Arab-US Association of Communication Educators (AUSACE) ausace.org (2017-2019) and he has been the Senior Editor of the Journal of Middle East Media (JMEM) since 2018. Hesham Mesbah received his master’s degree in Broadcast Journalism at the American University in Cairo and a doctoral degree in Mass Communication at Cairo University in 1996.
